Media Evaluation

My media magazine contains all other coventions from other major retail magazines, the front cove main idea came from the conventions that nme used when making there "100 gigs you should have been at" special issue, the red black and white was simple but very effective.

My double page spread and contents page main idea came from Q magazine. Therefore since my product replicates these magazines then my audience is similar, aimed at all ages but more who are interested in rock.

The kind of media that would distribute my product would publish my media would more than likely be Bauer media because they publish similar magazines like Q, NME and Kerrang.

I never learnt a great deal more than what i already knew. Looking back at the preliminary till now I learnt that I needed to pay more attention to exsisting products.

Flat Plans

These double page spreads are not really inspirations but they are posssible examples of how mine may look, I like the idea of having a main image then writing on the other side, however the problem with this is that the image has to be effective or it won't work.

I try an attempt at the brandon flowers article and see how it ends up

Contents inspirations

I am using Q as my main inspiration for contents page, it is set out clearly, either into seperate sections or a title then it has been anchored by a piece of text explaining what the page is about.

The colour scheme is very simple yet it is aesthetically pleasing, the red, white and black works well together, keeps the magazine looking professional, I main aim to replicate this when coming to do my own, I am undecided however though on whether to do a single page contents or double.

Apart from tge top image the images are very simplistic, usually using one main image then dotting smaller images around that.

Main Image

This is the image I will use as my front cover, it fits with the convention of looking straight at the front, maintaining contact with the audience, I also like the background colour, so I may leave that as it is because I'm not someone who finds a whole load of vibrant colours appearing aesthetically pleasing. Moreover, with the intended audience I have, I doubt they would also. It is also hard to attain a professional look with lots of bright colours.

I chose this image above other ones because I believe it looked the most serious and professional. The image itself is meant to appear serious and quite intimidating, which is why when it came to taking images I tried to keep as straight faced as possible, this image portrays quite well what I was trying to achieve.

It was important that the choice of clothing worn and style were of a rock related apperance, otherwise it would not have that strong connection, so I chose to wore a denim jacket, with one side of the collar neither up or down, to give it a tatty, not very well dressed appearance. I also made sure that my hair was quite messy and wild.
